Hope everyone is well. The subject I am writing about today is computers. Since this is the first tune about computers today, in this tune I will discuss the basics of computers.

What is computer (COMPUTER)?

A computer is a device that receives various information from the user and analyzes and presents it through various processes.

The word computer is derived from the English word compute, which means to calculate. Initially we think that computer is a calculating machine. But its real picture is much wider. In today's technology era, computers are used in almost every field. From scientific research, to business, engineering and our daily lives, computers have a wide range of uses. The first computer came to Bangladesh in 1964.

Classification of Computers:

Computer can be divided into different parts from different aspects. However, computers are divided into four categories based on performance and shape.

1. Personal Computer (PC)
2. Mini Computer
3. Mainframe Computer
4. Super Computer

1. Personal Computer (PC): It is a single user computer. whose size, capacity and price are suitable for a common user and can be used without any third party help. Its microprocessor power is average.

2. Mini Computer (Mini Computer): Computers of this category are small in size. A computer terminal can be used by many users simultaneously. A simple on-board circuit is used as its central processing unit. Its use can be seen in industries, sports, and entertainment.

3. Mainframe Computer (Mainframe Computer): Smaller than supercomputer but larger than other computers, this computer can work simultaneously by connecting many input/output interfaces and many types of auxiliary memory. Such computers are used in large organizations.

4. Super Computer (Super Computer): This computer is the largest in terms of shape and has powerful and fast data storage and processing capabilities. Supercomputers are used in many large-scale mathematical calculations, laboratory research, weather forecasting, climate research, etc.

Concept of computer hardware:

A computer is made up of many components and all those components are collectively called computer hardware. Which we can see with our own eyes and physically touch with our hands. For example: CPU, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor etc. are all computer hardware.

Software is required to function properly with the hardware. Software gives instructions to the hardware to perform a specific task. Computers have many different types of hardware. It is not possible to say about all of them together. So I am discussing some essential hardware below.

Internal (INTERNAL) hardware device:

Internal hardware refers to what you can see inside the computer itself.

1. Motherboard: Motherboard is the circuit board of the computer where all other components are installed.
2. Central Processing Unit (CPU): CPU is called the brain of the computer. By this the computer completes all kinds of processes.
3. Random Access Memory (RAM): RAM is used to temporarily store the data of various programs completed in the computer. The higher the RAM in the computer, the higher the performance and speed.
4. Power Supply Unit (PSU): It provides electrical power to all the different parts of computer and motherboard.
5. Hard Disk / Drive: It is the storage system of the computer. Which contains various types of data. All the files, games, movies, etc. that we keep on the computer are stored on the hard disk.

External (EXTERNAL) hardware device:

External hardware refers to a separate connection to the CPU from the outside.

1. Keyboard & Mouse: Both keyboard and mouse are input devices. Through which the computer receives various types of information. Mouse is again called pointer.
2. Monitor: It displays the results after completing various programs.
3. Printer: Printer is an output device. Through which data, image, text etc. can be printed through paper and take their output.
